HISTORY OF ENGINEERING DESIGN ASSOCIATES

history

Engineering Design Associates (EDA) was incorporated in January of 1985; however, the company's history began in June of 1972 when Construction Management Corporation was founded by Robert F. Nelson Jr., P.E. as an engineering and construction firm. In the early years approximately ninety percent (90%) of the business involved active construction.

The firm grew and in 1976 the firm's name was changed to Nelson-White Construction Management Corporation. During the next eleven years the firm continued to grow and prosper as a design/build construction firm performing work throughout Virginia. As the company grew, most of the firm's design capacity was devoted to the projects constructed by the firm.

Nelson-White Construction Management Corporation designed and constructed a diverse range of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional and special projects for an impressive list of clients.

In 1982 the idea to separate engineering from the construction operations emerged. During the next two years plans materialized, and by the end of 1984 the plans were complete, and Engineering Design Associates was founded.

EDA’s employees share in the enthusiasm of their projects and have a realistic approach for practical design resulting in a cost savings.

Engineering Design Associates is a design firm with capability, flexibility, reliability, and commitment to our clients.
